The Greater Sacramento Softball association is an affiliation of the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA), the National Governing Body of softball. We are one of 77 associations in the United States. Sacramento ASA covers territory from Dixon up to Lake Tahoe and from Lincoln over to Galt. This includes Placer County, Nevada County, El Dorado County, Sacramento County, Yolo County and parts of Solano County.
 
Youth Program
     The ASA youth program, also known as the Junior Olympic program, is among the nation's largest youth sports organization. Over 80,000 teams, 1.3 million players and 300,000 coaches participate in ASA youth softball on an annual basis. It is the single fastest growing program in the ASA, and has had membership growth every year since its inception in 1974. Sacramento ASA registers 9,000 youth participants on a yearly basis.
      The ASA youth program in Sacramento provides recreational and competitive opportunities for girls in the fast pitch arena. Whether a player views softball as a new sport to learn, as a way to have fun with friends, or as a path to the Olympics, Sacramento ASA youth program has something for them. Foremost, the goal of the ASA youth program is to help aspiring young softball athletes learn a sport they can enjoy for a lifetime in a positive, safe, and supportive
environment.
 
Adult Program
     The ASA adult program has served as the softball community since 1934. With over 170,000 teams, 2.5 millions players and 500,000 coaches involved on an annual basis, the adult program is the largest program within the Amateur Softball Association. In Sacramento ASA, we play host to over 20,000 adult participants each year.
     The ASA provides varied programs of competition for adults including fast pitch, slow pitch and modified pitch for men and women.
 
Umpire Program
     The ASA umpire program is among the nation's largest officiating organizations with over 42,000 officials actively involved each year. ASA officials are nationally recognized as the best trained and proficient in the sport and are involved in competition starting with league play, city, state and national championships. Ultimately, ASA umpires could officiate events such as world championship, Pan American and Olympic competitions.
