Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) is a FREE skills competition for 7-14* year olds. PHR is a nationwide baseball event with thousands of competitions, but in 2009 there will be an exclusive Girls Softball Division Pilot Program opportunity.  The Softball Division is only available to 10 hosts within each of the 10 pre-selected ASA states.  Sacramento ASA has been selected as one of these sites. This 1-day event emphasizes the fun element in softball and allows girls to showcase their pitching (tests accuracy only), hitting and running abilities.

Softball Division Competitors have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition: Locals, Super Regionals, and the National Finals.  Local Competition winners will advance to 1 of 10 Super Regional Competitions where they will one step away from the National Finals, which will be held at the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in St. Louis, MO.  Providing this opportunity for your community is as easy as:

SKILLS

Pitch – Tests accuracy only (both underhand and overhand pitching or throwing permissible)

Hit – Tests distance and accuracy hitting from a stationary batting tee

Run – Tests speed in a sprint from second base to home plate

LEVELS OF COMPETITION

Local Competition -  March 1 – May 10

o All-Around, Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions advance from EACH age group

Super Regional - May 16 – June 14 (weekend dates only)

o All-Around Champions in each age group are ELIGIBLE to advance.

The top 3 scores in each age group out of all 10 Super Regionals will advance to the National Finals.*

National Finals - 2009 MLB All-Star Week

Finalists will compete on-field at Busch Stadium prior to shagging fly balls during the Home Run Derby.

PRIZES/AWARDS

At each level of competition competitors will receive an item for their participation.  Prizes at different levels of competition include ribbons, medals, trophies and other awards. National Finalists receive a trip to St.Louis for the 2009 All-Star Game.
